Ever since Amara Shanks joined photojournalism during her sophomore year of high school, she discovered her passion for photography and showcasing the different stages of emotion from others. What began as just something fun to do to show her friends/family, turned into an obsession of preserving emotions, events, and memories. Being a photographer was more than just snapping photos for her; it's was always about how a single moment can create a lifetime of memories. Amara wants the photos to invite specific emotions and conversations to various viewers. she still challenges herself to capture various photo genres, with that being said, Amara realized that they have nice eye for storytelling within her pictures , which sparked interest to make work that pertains to her life, her culture, and others. As Amara continues their photography journey, she wants to challenge herself to always make stuff and make mistakes a long the way because you never know how beautiful a mishap can be!
